Our 2020 Mass QB Showdown Recap Video

2020 Mass QB Showdown

Our 2020 Showdown Camp was a great success! We had 40 QB's that worked in 4 flights of 10 competing for The New England 8. The QB's are graded on all elements of the Quarterback Position through a specific rubric we have created. Our Showdown MVP was Ayden Pereira from Central Catholic. Ayden is one of the top 2022 QB's in New England. He currently holds FBS offers from Colorado State and Marshall. Our Runner Up was Brady Olson from Milford MA. Brady has received 12 Division I Scholarship offers and is committed to UMass Amherst. Notable names in The New England 8 include Merrimack College Commit Henri Bourque and Bentley University Commit Brett Pullman. We are extremely confident that all of the New England 8 and Honorable Mention Quarterbacks will go on to play collegiate football. We are looking forward to following their journey and cannot wait for the 2021 Mass QB Showdown. Please submit your film to M2QBacademy@gmail.com for consideration!

Purdue QB Austin Burton spent the 2020 summer training at M2

Picture
The former UCLA quarterback Austin Burton announced this spring that he is transferring to Purdue, adding much-needed experience and depth to the Boilermakers' roster.

The 6-foot-2, 197-pound quarterback entered the NCAA transfer portal on March 4. He has started one game in three seasons at UCLA, playing in five total contests. Burton completed 68.8 percent of his passes (44-for-64) in his career for the Bruins. In his lone start, a loss to Oregon State, he played well and finished the game 27-for-41 passing for 236 yards and one touchdown pass.

Austin has spent the late spring and summer training at M2 QB Academy in Massachusetts. "Over the past few months I have been able to train with Mike at M2. The training and development has certainly taken my game to another level".

With the BIG Ten season being postponed, we will have to wait at least until February to see Austin compete for the Boilermakers.

Congratulations to our 2021 Division 1 commits Brady Olson and Will Jarvis! Brady Olson (Milford) received 12 division 1 offers including UMass, Georgia Tech, and Colorado State. Brady decided to stay local and commit to UMass Amherst. Brady has worked extremely hard all offseason and we are so excited for him. Will Jarvis (Walpole) recently committed to Brown University. Will is an extremely talented Quarterback that has all the tools to succeed at the Division I level. We look forward to seeing them both compete!

Mass Pirates Professional QB Sean Brackett spends the 2020 offseason working out at M2 QB Academy

Picture
Sean has been training with M2 QB Academy since January 2020 and has been consistently working out 1-2 times a week with us. Sean is a former National Arena League MVP and has been quoted in saying this is the best offseason he has had throwing since becoming a professional. Sean has been in contact with outdoor leagues such as the CFL and NFL. We look forward to continuing to help Sean in his Professional Football journey!

“Like I said before, this is the best I’ve felt physically, emotionally and mentally in a long time at this point in the year because every year at this point, I’m getting beat up and working to try and get my body to 100 percent every single week,” Brackett said. “This is definitely a little bit different with not having to deal with the bumps and bruises that kind of come with the name of the game at the position. I’m 28-years-old but I feel like I’m 22-23 right now.”

Toys for Tots Free Holiday Training

Picture
The Toys for Tots free training was a very successful day. We were able to donate 45 Gifts to our local Toys for Tots campaign to help children and families in need this holiday season! Thank you for all QB's that came out and donated. This is so much more than just a game, we are all very proud of the future leaders that helped make a difference today.  Gift donations will be accepted until December 20th.

Types of Training

Our Academy offers many different avenues of instruction. The most popular is our competitive, small group training. Our small group training is capped at 8 Quarterbacks per session, and matches athletes of similar age and ability. Our group and individual training sessions focus on the physical, mental and emotional aspect of the Quarterback position. We implement innovative drills that transfer directly to game play. All drills will test your ability to execute and challenge you mentally as well as physically.

Our training season is split up into Four phases: Phase 1 starts with a mechanical analysis, breakdown and study of technical errors, strengths and weaknesses in gameplay, etc. We will set long term and short term goals for the year in phase 1. We will also evaluate your strength and conditioning plan as well as nutrition and set/tweak if needed. This phase is used to correct any errors with technique, footwork etc. Phase 2 begins to implement moving parts (receivers, reaction drills, moving targets, moving platforms, pocket movement etc.) as well as continue to build on phase 1 goals. Phase 3 begins the implementation of your offensive system, complex reads, defensive recognition and coverages. At this time we will bring in defensive backs as well. QB's will work a lot of timing routes, 1v1's, 7v7, defensive recognition as well as an overview of phases 1 & 2. Phase 4 is our in-season tune up phase. This phase is created to tweak and correct any bad habits that may occur during the season. Even the highest level QB's will have a breakdown of mechanics in season if not trained properly. Once the season is over, all of our QB's will start back on Phase 1, with new goals and a new evaluation.
